AWI Manufacturing is a second-generation, Minnesota family business.
After years of working on road crews, Art Scherping recognized the need for better quality manufactured parts. He decided to craft them himself, and, in 1970, Art’s Welding, Inc. was born. Through the years, Art’s kids worked alongside their father and mother and grew with the business, creating AWI history.
AWI History of Excellence
The Second Generation took over the company from their father in 2004 and renamed the company AWI Manufacturing. While wanting to honor what Art had created they also wanted to forge a new path, grow the company and also diversify the product offerings and services.
Since 2004 the company has had tremendous growth and expanded from a 30,000 square foot facility to 100,000 square feet and double the employees. The product offerings have expanded and the development of a World Class Custom Manufacturing Facility was developed along with their product lines.
The siblings never lost sight of the work ethic they learned growing up and still participate in getting their hands dirty. You may run into them in the board room discussing management issues or you are just as likely to find them laying on the floor of the shop trying to help someone fix a piece of equipment that broke down.
